Westime Named Official Timekeeper of the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club

Beverly Hills, Calif.—July 12, 2012—Southern California’s most glamorous track, the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club, begins its 75th year of horse racing on July 18th.  And for the first time, leading watch retailer Westime will serve as the Official Timekeeper, from the initial starting gate to the final photo finish of the 2012 season.

Throughout the seven weeks of races, Westime will showcase a different “Watch of the Week” in the DMTC’s members-only Turf Club. Additionally, the top-performing jockey and trainers of the season will each win a luxury watch from Westime, which will be presented at a trackside ceremony on the final race day. Everyone following the action—at the track or by video feed—will see Westime’s logo alongside the fractional and final times of each race.

“Westime is very proud to partner with the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club,” says Westime President Greg Simonian.  “Watches and horseracing have been inextricably linked for centuries--the sport even inspired watchmakers to invent new ways to track time!  With our new Westime La Jolla boutique located just minutes from the iconic Del Mar track, the partnership couldn’t be more fitting,” Simonian adds.
