Vicenzo Nibali, winner of this year's Tour de France, visits the Hublot manufacture
He was the winner of the Tour de France general classification. Nicknamed the "Shark of the Strait", Vicenzo Nibali has been riding for team Astana since 2013 and is known for his elegant style and technical skill. Not yet 30, he also won the Vuelta a España in 2010 and the Giro d'Italia in 2013, making him part of a highly elite group of riders to have won all three "Grand Tours", alongside Jacques Anquetil, Felice Gimondi, Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault and Alberto Contador.
Vicenzo Nibali came to Switzerland today specially to pay a visit to the Hublot manufacture, at the invitation of Jean-Claude Biver, Chairman of Hublot and Head of Watchmaking at LVMH, and Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot, who had to honour of welcoming him and showing him around the watchmaking workshops, a first for Vicenzo Nibali, who had never seen watches being made. He showed a great deal of interest and spoke freely with the watchmakers, despite the discretion for which he is known.
It was a relaxed, friendly visit, and spirits were high amongst the Hublot team!
