“For many years now, we have had a passion for cinema. Every filmmaker tells a story with their films, and at IWC, storytelling is in our DNA,” says Georges Kern, CEO of IWC Schaffhausen. “Tribeca Film Institute has proved year in and year out to be one of the world’s premier charitable organizations when it comes to nurturing and elevating young filmmakers. It is a privilege to be in our third year of our partnership with such a highly regarded institution and a film festival.” As a way of supporting the film industry, its vital young talent, and local storytelling, IWC will again make a donation to Tribeca Film Institute, the nonprofit affiliate of the Tribeca Film Festival, through an auction of a unique timepiece, the Portofino Monopusher Edition “TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL 2015” Unique Piece (Ref. IW515105).

The watch will be auctioned by Christie’s during an online-only auction from April 1 to April 10, and the entire proceeds will go to support Tribeca Film Institute. The exceptional auction package also includes exclusive VIP access to the Tribeca Film Festival, an invitation to the “For the Love of Cinema” private dinner hosted by IWC Schaffhausen, as well as luxury hotel accommodation in New York City. Interested buyers from all over the globe can bid on the one-of-one timepiece by visiting www.christies.com .

“Christie’s is proud to partner with IWC to offer a one-of-a-kind watch to benefit Tribeca Film Institute. We have a shared passion for quality, design, and fine watchmaking. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire not only an exceptional timepiece, but to also make a difference to the future of a filmmaker,” commented John Reardon, International Head of Christie’s Watches. Tribeca Film Institute is a nonprofit arts organization that supports filmmakers with grants, professional development, and resources, while also helping students to discover film and filmmaking. “TFI is pleased to continue to work with IWC,” says Ryan Harrington, VP of Artist Programs at Tribeca Film Institute. “For the past 2 years, we have seen the proceeds of this auction benefit our filmmakers and look forward to continuing to foster talent by providing them with the necessary means to complete their work.”

A GLOBAL PREMIERE

With the Portofino Monopusher Edition “TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL 2015” Unique Piece, IWC Schaffhausen will release a new complication in honor of the Tribeca Film Festival. The unique timepiece comes onto the scene destined for an award-winning future. The Portofino Monopusher features an ingeniously designed single push-button mechanism, which is integrated in the crown. Pressing the multi-functional pusher twice starts and stops the chronograph. When it is pushed a third time, all the chronograph hands are reset to zero. The chronograph records times of up to 60 minutes. This newly developed feature is an invaluable addition to IWC’s in-house movements and to the Portofino range. In addition to this, a movement that boasts a power reserve of 192 hours – or precisely 8 days – will no doubt be a source of pleasure to future owners looking to own a piece of movie magic. The timepiece also features a white gold case set against a slate-colored dial with Bordeaux subdials. As in years past, the subdials’ hue is inspired by Hollywood’s iconic red carpet, while the slate-colored dial is inspired by the streets of Tribeca in New York, laden with steel and concrete. The case back bears the logo of the Tribeca Film Festival and the engraved lettering “Unique Piece.” The Portofino Monopusher Edition “TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL 2015” Unique Piece will be available exclusively through the online auction by Christie’s.
