Leading Luxury Swiss Watchmaker TAG Heuer Creates A Second Exclusive Timepiece for Singapore

To celebrate the world’s only Formula One night race, TAG Heuer creates a commemorative limited edition Carrera for Singapore to be launched in September. 250 pieces worldwide, exclusively available in Singapore only.

Singapore, July 2009 – To celebrate the world’s only Formula One night race, TAG Heuer will be launching a limited edition of its finest Carrera series – the TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 16 Day Date Chronograph, at 250 pieces only.

This extraordinary Carrera, developed specially for Singapore, is highlighted with green -- in line with the green and red logo of TAG Heuer, and also mirroring the glowing green borders on the Formula One night track. In correspondence to this unique night race format, the Carrera is equipped with a checked dial, distinctively representing Formula One racing, while its super luminous index captures the very essence of the glowing vibrancy of the night race.

“The launch of the limited edition TAG Heuer Grand Carrera Calibre 8 last year was a roaring success. Not only were the 150 pieces sold out within a mere 9 days, it was also auctioned off at the M.I.L.K. Charity Dinner Auction at a tag of $45,000. This second piece will definitely not be any less of a disappointment,” says Mr Jean-Christophe Babin, President and CEO of TAG Heuer. Mr Babin continued, “TAG Heuer always had a rich heritage involving motor racing and Formula One; it is indeed exciting to see that Singapore is once again hosting this amazing event. TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 16 Day Date Chronograph (Singapore Limited Edition)

The TAG Heuer Carrera: an Avant-Garde series inspired by the Carrera Panamericana Mexico Road Race in the 1950s. Paying homage to the era of Gentleman Drivers, this Carrera’s large crown and pushbuttons are made to be like the stop-watches inspired by the mythic universe of racecars driving in the 1950s, while the hand-applied numerals reveal the connection with the iconic design of Carrera Calibre 360. This extraordinary timepiece is also equipped with a tachymeter scale on its fixed bezel for calculating speed, honouring the great motor racing legends.
