Florence, September 2014 Officine Panerai, the Maison of luxury sports watches, was among the distinguished Florentine brands which took part in the 20th edition of “Celebrity Fight Night”, one of the most exclusive American charitable events in the world which, as always, involved famous celebrities of international standing. The event was held in Italy for the first time, with the key objective of raising funds for two important charities, namely the Andrea Bocelli Foundation and the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center.

From 3 to 7 September, very select guests from the United States visited the places of art and culture in Florence accompanied by the major Florentine brands, including Officine Panerai, through exclusive events devoted to them.

At the conclusion of the event, a Gala Dinner was held in the historic Salone dei Cinquecento in the Palazzo Vecchio, with the participation of prestigious international and national celebrities, including George Clooney, Lionel Richie, Laura Pausini, Eva and Roberto Cavalli, Giovanna Gentile Ferragamo and Leonardo Ferragamo and many others.

During the event, which was hosted by Michelle Hunziker, a charity auction was held in which Officine Panerai participated by donating the Radiomir 1940 oro rosso - 47mm, an iconic model of the Florentine brand inspired by models created in the 1940s. The back of the watch has been personalised for the occasion with the engraved inscription “Andrea Bocelli Foundation for Haiti” and the words of Maestro Bocelli “I strongly believe that love does justice”.

The auction raised almost one million dollars and was run by the celebrated auctioneer Simon de Pury.

The evening ended with a remarkable performance by Andrea Bocelli accompanied by the Orchestra of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, directed by the Maestro Zubin Mehta, and it was received with great enthusiasm by all the guests present.

OFFICINE PANERAI

Founded in Florence in 1860 as a workshop, shop and school of watch-making, for many decades Officine Panerai supplied the Italian Navy in general, and its specialist diving corps in particular, with precision instruments. The designs developed by Panerai in that time, including the Luminor and Radiomir, were covered by the Military Secrets Act for many years and were launched on the international market only after the brand was acquired by the Richemont Group in 1997. Today Officine Panerai develops and crafts its movements and watches at its Neuchâtel manufacture. The latter are a seamless melding of Italian design flair and history with Swiss horological expertise. Panerai watches are sold across the world through an exclusive network of distributors and Panerai boutiques. www.panerai.com
