As part of a world tour to celebrate the launch of its most recent masterpiece, the German prestige watchmaker Glashütte Original invited VIP guests to an exclusive evening of technological sophistication and timeless elegance at the Sky Room of the New Museum in NYC. Glashütte Original VP of Sales Dieter Pachner, and US Brand Manager, Steve Cohen, opened the show with a word of welcome and an invitation to explore the new chronographs in all their facets and technical particularities. Set up as an interactive exhibition, the event brought a fascinating collection of vintage watch mechanisms, all manufactured in Glashütte over the past near 170 years, encouraging guests to travel trough time and learn about the brand’s heritage and tradition on chronographs production.

The star of the show however, was the innovative Calibre 37 chronograph movement itself, which was developed from the ground up and made in the firm’s own manufactory. The new automatic movement debuts in two exquisite models: the elegant Senator Chronograph Panorama Date and the sporty Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date. Both lines then feature a well balanced combination of functions in a column wheel, integrated chronograph mechanism.

To provide the guests with a deep insight of the new calibre, a young watchmaker from Glashütte was on site doing demonstrations on the several steps of the new caliber’s skillful assembly process. In addition, guests could test the accuracy and reliability of the new chronograph by using the new timepieces to control a slot-car racetrack, specially created for the occasion.

The music performance by the remarkable solo violinist Bryson Andres captivated the crowd with its fusion of classic and contemporary arrangements.

The next stop for the road show featuring the new chronograph movement caliber 37 is in the city of Chicago, where the interactive exhibit will be open to the public at the Tourbillon Boutique (545 N Michigan Avenue) from November 18 to 23.
