BALL WATCH - Surpassing Limits with the Launch of the Engineer Hydrocarbon Spacemaster
Singapore- In the spirit of pushing the boundaries, Ball Watch Company,
one of America's most distinguished and respected watch brands,
launches its new timepiece, The Engineer Hydrocarbon Spacemaster Glow.
In
1961 Russian Yuri Gagarin became the first human to go to outer space
and the first to orbit the earth. On October 4, 2004, former U.S. Navy
aviator and Ball Watch Ambassador Brian Binnie piloted the private
rocket SpaceShipOne
[1] to an altitude of 69.6 miles, winning the prestigious US$10 million Ansari X Prize
[2] and opening a new era in commercial space flight. (For more information on Brian Binnie, please refer to Appendix 1)
As
a tribute to Brian Binnie and his contributions in making the space
tourism dream a reality, The Engineer Hydrocarbon Spacemaster Glow is
inspired by his experience as he piloted the SpaceShipOne, and
encountered a spectacular view from space, marveling at the electric
blue ribbon of the atmosphere, separating the Earth from the blackness
of space.
Taking a cue from Brian, Ball Watch has employed the
use of ice blue micro - gas tubes for night vision. The dial opens an
additional 2mm to provide a bigger canvas and to enhance readability.
Indeed, The Engineer Hydrocarbon Spacemaster Glow is made for the
discerning wearer who appreciates the fine nuances of detail that place
an outstanding timepiece in a league of its own. (For more information
on The Engineeer Hydrocardon Spacemaster Glow, please refer to Appendix
1)
And what better way to celebrate the launch of this dynamic
timepiece than in conjunction with a prime example of excellence in
adversity - commemorating the NATAS Singapore Women's Everest Team
(SWET) and Ironman/assistant professor Dr Kua Harn Wei as Friends of
Ball Watch Company.
Established in 2004 with the aim of sending
the first team of Singaporean women to the world's highest peak, NATAS
SWET achieved their aim in May 2009, after years of strenuous training
and even more dedication. Besides being the first all-female team from
Singapore, NATAS SWET is also one of the toughest climbing teams in the
city-state: climbing at least a mountain every year. They draw on the
parallels that Ball Watch Company stands by - striving for excellence
in their field and triumphing over any adversities in their path.
Dr
Kua is an example of excellence as an all-rounder. He is an assistant
professor at a local university and an experienced triathlete with 12
years of achievements under his belt. He is best known for putting
Singapore and Asia on the map for being the first Asian to finish the
International Ultra Triathlon Association (IUTA) - Deca Iron World
Challenge in 2006, as well as setting a new Asian record at the IUTA
Triple Ironman World Cup in 2008.
"Ball Watch Company is proud
to welcome NATAS SWET and Dr Kua as friends of our brand. They are
pioneers in their fields and we are privileged to be associated with
them as they mirror the foundations that we believe in. We look forward
to a fruitful partnership with them and wish them all the best in their
future endeavours," says Ball Watch Singapore managing director Kelvin
Wong.
Ball Watch Company has come a long way internationally
since its establishment in 1891. Both internationally and locally, Ball
represents the drive to surpass limits and the passion for making
groundbreaking discoveries on frontiers most people dream of. It
represents the possibility to turn a dream into a reality. The launch
of The Engineer Hydrocarbon Spacemaster Glow comes at a significant
time marking a successful five years in Singapore, and with its new
Friends of Ball in mind, being poised for more milestones that will
undoubtedly come its way.

SpaceShipOne, the first privately constructed manned spacecraft, was
built by Mojave Aerospace Ventures, a joint venture between Paul Allen
(a co-founder of Microsoft), and Scaled Composites, the aviation
company of famed aircraft designer Burt Rutan.
[2]
The Ansari X Prize was created by the St. Louis, Missouri-based X Prize
Foundation to promote commercial space travel. The prize conditions
stipulated that the winning spacecraft had to twice travel within two
weeks to the edge of space, at least 62 miles or 100 kilometers above
Earth's surface, and back.
