TAG Heuer Celebrates Its Heritage Involvement in

Motor Racing Sports from Past To Present

With “Racing Legends of Our Time” Exhibition

From the 19th to 29th September, TAG Heuer is holding an exhibition at Paragon Shopping Centre, Atrium in an effort to share its legendary achievements in the field of high-end motor racing sports.  Entitled “Racing Legends of Our Time”, this exhibition commemorates TAG Heuer’s heritage involvement in motor racing sports from past to present and features the brand’s association with some of the best driving legends on the race tracks.  This includes Juan-Manuel Fangio, Jo Siffert, Jacky Ickx, Emmerson Fittipaldi, Clay Regazzoni, Niki Lauda, Gilles Villeneuve, Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna, Nigel Mansell, Mika Häkkinen, David Coulthard, Juan Pablo Montoya, Lewis Hamilton and Kimi Räikkönen - all of whom, have been part of TAG Heuer’s incomparable roster of F1 racing ambassadors.  With that said, this exhibition timely contributes to the excitement and anticipation of the first ever Singapore Grand Prix to be held here.

Through the showcase of TAG Heuer’s expertise in cutting-edge watch-making and timekeeping technologies as well as revolutionary “Avant-Garde” eyewear concepts, the exhibition provides visitors with an opportunity to experience first-hand the legitimacy and strength of TAG Heuer’s motor racing DNA.  With the brand’s fastidious attention to detail and its ingenious use of the latest technology found in its products’ designs, TAG Heuer similarly ensures the adherence of both traits for the exhibition to deliver an interactive session for participants to immerse themselves in TAG Heuer’s delineation of luxurious “Sports and Glamour” that epitomizes the driving desire to achieve functionality and beauty in today’s watchmaking industry.

Commented Jean-Christophe Babin, President and CEO of TAG Heuer who will be in Singapore to attend the exhibition, “TAG Heuer has always been a huge supporter of Formula 1 and motor racing.  I’m very happy that Singapore will host one of the most spectacular Formula 1 Grand Prix races in the world.  A leading market for TAG Heuer, Singapore will ride on the festivities, presenting one of the most comprehensive motor racing heritage exhibitions to showcase some of the most important TAG Heuer timepieces which were instrumental to the development of timekeeping and motor racing.”

TAG Heuer started its involvements in motor-racing at the beginning of the 20th century when they became the first watch brand to develop chronographs dashboards for sports car.  Its partnership with race drivers and teams have allowed the brand to push the barriers of timekeeping, creating extraordinary chronographs with a precision of 1/10th, 1/100th, 1/1,000th and now 1/10,000th of a second.  Worn on the arms of professional speed devils such as 2007 Formula 1 World Champion and Scuderia Ferrari driver Kimi Räikkönen, Vodafone McLaren Mercedes star Lewis Hamilton, as well as holder of two world titles and Vodafone McLaren Mercedes driver, Fernando Alonsodr, TAG Heuer became the first watch brand to finish 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the 2007 F1 World Championship.

Tracing back to the time of the famous “Time of Trip” of 1911, the first car dashboard chronograph, and progressing all the way to this year’s relaunch of the “new TAG Heuer Formula 1”, TAG Heuer has come a long way in creating avant-garde products that answer the needs of professional car racing and Grand Tourism passion.  Its associations with motor racing inspire some of the most mythical timepieces such as the TAG Heuer Carrera, the Monaco, the TAG Heuer Formula 1 or the TAG Heuer SLR for Mercedes-Benz. That being said, the exhibition will showcase, without doubt, a dynamic range of motor racing inspired timepieces, including the New TAG Heuer Formula 1 Grande Date Chronograph Kimi Räikkönen (Limited Edition), TAG Heuer Calibre S Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Lewis Hamilton (Limited Edition) and an exclusive 150 piece TAG Heuer Grand Carrera Calibre 8 RS Grande-Date GMT (Singapore Limited Edition) watch made available specially for Singapore in commemoration of the first ever night street motor race in the world - much to the eager anticipation of TAG Heuer and motor racing fans alike.

Meet and Greet: Kimi Räikkönen,

Defending F1 World Champion and Scuderia Ferrari Driver

The exhibition will boost a commendable line-up of activities.  Apart from viewing the resplendent collection of motor racing watches, eyewear, and other motor racing -related items on display, perhaps more exciting is 2007 Formula 1 World’s Drivers’ Championship winner Kimi Räikkönen’s appearance in a meet and greet session on location on 24th September at 7.30pm.  As an exemplary ambassador to the TAG Heuer brand, Räikkönen, through his meritorious achievements on the race tracks, exemplifies the spirit of unwavering tenacity and performance that is TAG Heuer.

On the exhibition days, participants can represent Singapore in lending their support to Räikkönen by penning their well-wishes on a scroll to be presented to the man himself.

If that is not enough, participants also stand a chance to win a new TAG Heuer Formula 1 Grande Date Chronograph Kimi Räikkönen (Limited Edition) that will be coveted by watch connoisseurs and motor racing fans around.

In its grandeur, “Racing Legends of Our Time” is the epicentre to experience the world of TAG Heuer and its continuous support for the motor racing sport. From understanding its unique past, and following its success into the present, TAG Heuer’s history rivets into the history of motor racing so closely. When it comes to combining elegance and high luxury motor racing performance, TAG Heuer is truly the cognoscenti of watchmaking, marrying design with precision quality. This exhibition pays tribute to TAG Heuer’s dominance as “Masters of Chronographs”: venerated, respected and worthy of its title, and is an event not to be missed. After all, it is an honour to see the “racing legends” that have significantly contributed to the accuracy and precision of timekeeping for motor racing. And who knows, even in the frenzy race against time, you might just stop to catch a glimpse into the future of watchmaking here.
