There's always something surprising us ...
Apr 16, 2024,20:58 PM
If your eyes are looking for action, no doubt you can find it. Here's this morning's excitement for us:
Squirrel looking for breakfast -- bird seed
Hawk looking for breakfast - squirrel
Seagull looking for a place to make a nest, not sure this is a decent neighborhood for a young 'un
One dove grooming and the other watching the hawk nervously
The other dove grooming, having swapped watch duty
Two more seagulls watching all the action below.
We had to go shopping anyway, so we cruised by the National Wildlife Refuge.
It is a beautiful morning here.
But a bad hair day for the birds we saw
We are watching from a path alongside a hotel parking lot.
A dog runs out of a room, into the bushes and comes back through the parking lot with a giant branch. Of course now he can't get back into the room!
No problem, he takes off across the parking lot, while my wife fears he will scratch up some cars.
The owner appears but the dog is much faster.
Dog chews the branch in half and heads back towards his room, perhaps to try the smaller stick.
The owner shrugs "What can you do?" and takes off after the dog again. We laugh and head for the trail ...
Oops, our plans change as the only way in is now through an encampment which seems to be heavily populated.
Don't worry, we have been here before and can come again.
Here's our previous VISIT REPORTBTW we have only been at the southern end of the reserve, and in the link I included (above) you can see our walk across that train trestle (below).
La - de -dah, we go back to watching the flowers, the birds and the bees.
In the parking lot we sniff around this nice Buick ... is it headed into or out of California? We can't tell.
We hit the highway towards home and see this clean 914 (I'm sure this is a non-stock color; Porsche experts let us know)
We finish our shopping and arrive home ahead of schedule thanks to the campers in the nature preserve.
I hope you had a nice spring morning too.
Cheers,
Cazalea
