as I look at it, and think about other two subdial chronos, I can't help but think that the subdials are placed too close to the center axis, and the subdial size further aggravates this issue. Is it because the movement was designed for a smaller case, say 37mm, and when fit into a 40mm case, a nonissue becomes a real issue? Please compare to the salmon-faced two subdial Vacheron chrono that you posted alongside this post. You informed us that that is a 37mm case, and the subdials (yes smaller diameter) look much more elegant with "breathing room" than on this JLC. Even other two dial modern chronos, such as the Zenith models of late, seem more balanced when put in 38mm cases rather than the original 42mm case in which they were first introduced, and only after the Hodinkee-Zenith collaboration did Zenith repackage the watch in the smaller case size, albeit with different dial colors than the Hodinkee gray dial, as I recall.
